Understanding Online Bingo Lingo

02 Jan 2012 - You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.

When playing at online bingo sites, there are a lot of opportunities to interact with fellow bingo players as well as chat moderators. In order to keep things simple and eliminate a great deal of typing, there are some common expressions that are abbreviated. If you’ve never encountered this shorthand, it can seem like another language. Therefore it’s a good idea to know what your bingo comrades are referring to. Stopping to ask them what they are saying only seems rude. Listed below are some of the abbreviations that are used often in online bingo rooms.

· *GL: This means “good luck” and would be appropriate to say at the beginning of a bingo game.

· *GJ: this is short for “good job”

· *WTG: Players may also say “way to go” to compliment others

· *GG: This means “good game” and is used to display proper sportsmanship even when one has lost the bingo game.

· *TY or TYVM: Both of these express gratitude by saying “thank you” or “thank you very much”.

· *PLS: This simply means “please”.

· *BRB: Meaning “be right back”, this is used if you need to step away briefly from your computer.

· *LOL or ROTFL: Either expression can be used to show the room you think something is funny. LOL means “laughing out loud” while ROTFL means “rolling on the floor laughing”.
