Students across the pond in Kansas have been organising regular bingo nights with credit crunch busting prizes! With food and petrol prices rising across the globe, the Student Union Activities committee at the University of Kansas came up with a novel idea to give students some sustenance and fuel! The night is called ‘Grocery and Gas Bingo’! In case you don’t know, the term ‘Gas’ across the pond isn’t rude, it’s just their way of saying petrol!
The night of bingo takes place once every term and allows students to compete for a selection of groceries, most of which are dried foods like Cereal and Macaroni Cheese which can last a while and can provide a hearty meal that keeps hunger locked away! Random spot prizes of ‘gas cards’ which function like vouchers for petrol are also given out to winners of various pattern combinations.
The latest night took place last Tuesday and attracted 175 students, all of whom were keen to get their hands on the credit crunching prizes! Around 30-40 prizes were given out according to the University Daily Kansan, with students getting extremely excited at the prospect of winning at bingo!
