Those who are fans of bingo know that the game has several different versions that hinge upon the number of balls used in the game. A new form of bingo known as 80 ball bingo is gaining in popularity.
80 ball bingo was developed out of player comments. Many players find that a game of 75 ball bingo is just too short while a game of 90 ball bingo simply takes too long. Therefore, the 80 ball bingo version was created as a way in which to give bingo fans what they want. Many who have played the new version find it a happy medium between the two popular bingo variations.
While 80 ball bingo may be new to many players, it actually has been around before. However, then it was known under a different name, shutter board bingo. The name originated from the small shutters that were pulled to mark the bingo numbers when they were called. However, today cards are simply marked and no shutters utilized.
The bingo ticket for 80 ball bingo is comprised of five rows with four columns. This creates 20 spaces on the bingo ticket. The columns are each distinguished by a set colour; either red, yellow, silver or blue. Perhaps the biggest different with this new variant is in the bingo ticket itself.
